Mr. Biswarup Mukherjee Mr. Vinayak Chaubey Mr. Indranil Munshi ... for the petitioners Mr. Arindam Mandal ..for the State The petitioners are the winning candidates in the ssi Ct 238 Panchayat Election held in the State on 08.07.2023. The petitioner nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 intend to participate in the meetings scheduled to be held on 12.08.2023 at 12 O' clock to form the Panchayat Samity Board under Harishchandrapur Block, Malda. They submit that some miscreants at the instance of the rival political parties are trying to prevent them from attending the said meeting. To ensure free and fair democratic process, this writ petition is disposed of with the following order: The Superintendent of Police as well as the Officer in charge, Harishchandrapur Police Station to ensure that the petitioner nos. 2, 3, 4 and 5 can attend the meetings safely by deploying adequate numbers of police personnel. The said police authorities shall also deploy necessary police personnel at the venue of the meeting that the meeting takes place without any hindrance.

With the aforesaid directions, W.P.A. 19642 of 2023 is disposed of.

Since affidavits were not called for, the allegations contained in the writ petition are deemed not to have been admitted by the State.
