The petitioner claims to be the widow of Maqsudul Alam, who was the husband of the petitioner and enjoyed electricity supply at his residential premises through Consumer No. 14076175071.

The petitioner alleges that after the death of her husband, the relevant electricity meter was transferred in the name of Respondent No. 9, Nurul Alam, who is the elder brother of the deceased.

By filing this writ petition, the petitioner prays that the meter be transferred in her name alone, as the legal heir of Maqsudul Alam.

Learned counsel appearing for the Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation (CESC) submits that the transfer was effected based on an application made by Respondent No.

9. However, he further submits that the competent authority shall reconsider the matter.

Accordingly, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction to the Deputy Manager (Commercial), South West Regional Office of CESC Ltd., to consider the petitioner's prayer for transfer of the relevant meter in her name, after affording an opportunity of hearing to all concerned parties.

Such exercise shall be completed within a period of two months from the date of communication of this order. Accordingly, WPA 19636 of 2025 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
