The petitioner is the daughter of a deceased primary school teacher. Her mother died-in-harness on 26th January, 2024. She applied for being appointed on compassionate ground in April 2024. Her allegation is that no steps have been taken for consideration of her application. She prays for expeditious disposal of her prayer for compassionate appointment.

It is settled position of law that prayer for appointment on compassionate ground is required to be decided on urgent basis. The respondent authority

ought not to delay in considering the application of the petitioner.

In view of the above, the instant writ petition is disposed of by directing the District Inspector of Schools (Primary Education), Murshidabad to take immediate steps for consideration of the petitioner's prayer for being appointed on compassionate ground at the earliest, but positively within a period of 90 days from the date of communication of this order. The aforesaid respondent may seek for required documents from the petitioner for processing her prayer for compassionate appointment.

A reasoned order shall be passed and communicated to the petitioner immediately thereafter. Learned advocate for the petitioner is directed to forward a copy of the application seeking compassionate appointment along with all relevant documents in support of her prayer to the aforesaid respondent at the time of communication of this order. The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
