The petitioner is the son of a deceased Group-D staff of a Secondary School. The employee expired on 12th January, 2004. Allegation is that his death gratuity has not been released till date. 2.

Document has been annexed to the writ petition in support of the submission that as late as on 24th October, 2024, the DPPG returned the papers of the employee to the District Inspector of Schools (S.E), Kolkata for rectification of defects and for resubmission of the same. Nothing has matured thereafter.

Prayer has been made to direct the authority to release the death gratuity of the employee. 4.

Learned advocate representing the State respondents is not ready with proper instruction.

As it appears that the employee died in harness more than 20 years back, it is high time that the authority take prompt necessary steps for disbursal of the death gratuity of the employee.

The instant writ petition stands disposed of by directing the District Inspector of School (S.E), Kolkata to take all necessary steps to ensure that the terminal dues of the deceased employee are released at the earliest but positively by 31st March, 2026. 7.

Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order be supplied to the parties, if applied for, as early as possible.
