Heard learned counsels for the parties.

It is submitted on behalf of the petitioners that the plots of land owned and occupied by them were acquired by the State respondents for reconstruction of AILA affected Sudarban embankment vide L.A. Case No.4/29/2012-13, but no compensation was paid to the petitioners for the same.

During pendency of the writ petition, a notice was issued by the Special Land Acquisition Officer, South 24 Parganas to the petitioners for appearing before him with all documents for consideration of payment of compensation.

It is submitted on behalf of the petitioners that though the petitioners appeared before the authority and produced all relevant documents, no further step has been

taken by the authority for disbursement of compensation in their favour.

The petitioners pray for a direction upon the concerned authority to conclude the proceeding and pay compensation to the petitioners within a stipulated time frame.

Learned counsel for the State respondents also submits that the authority may be directed to conclude the proceedings within a stipulated time frame.

In view of the above, the writ petition is disposed of directing the 3rd respondent to consider and dispose of the proceeding pending before him with regard to payment of compensation to the petitioners within a period of one month from the date of communication of this order after giving reasonable opportunity of hearing to the petitioners, if required, in accordance with law.

With the above observations and directions this writ petition being WPA 20811 of 2021 is disposed of. However, there shall be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the petition are deemed not to be admitted. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
