The petitioner alleges inaction on the part of the police. The learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that pursuant to the complaint lodged vide letter dated July 09, 2024, an F.I.R. was registered under Sections 85/115(2),117(2) /109/316(2)/3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023 (B.N.S.) and Section 3 of the Dowry Prohibition Act Act.

The learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that excepting registration of the First Information Report (F.I.R), no further steps have been taken.

Learned Advocate for the State files a report of the Officer-in-Charge, Chandrakona Police Station, dated August 22, 2024 wherefrom it appears that

several raids have been conducted to arrest the accused persons and excepting accused, namely, Ajaharuddin Khan, three other F.I.R. named accused persons have got bail. The report further states that continuous raid is being conducted to arrest the aforesaid F.I.R. named accused, namely, Ajaharuddin Khan. It has been further stated in the said report that the concerned Investigating Officer (I.O.) issued notice to the complainant to produce the list of stridhan articles along with the cash memo, but the complainant refused to receive the said notice.

It appears that the police authorities have taken some steps pursuant to the registration of the F.I.R. In the event, the petitioner/complainant furnishes the list of stridhan articles along with the cash memo, as requested by the concerned I.O., the I.O. shall take necessary steps in that regard expeditiously. The investigating agency is directed to conclude the investigation expeditiously.

With the above directions and observations, the writ petition stands disposed of.

There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance of necessary formalities.
