Mr. Pritam Choudhury ...for the Petitioner Mr. Srijan Nayak, Mrs. Rituparna Maitra ...for WBSEDCL 15-09-2025 AKG Ct. 15 Learned counsel appearing for the petitioner submits that failure to pay the instalments by the petitioner, as outlined on page 30 of the writ petition, may result in disconnection of his electricity supply.

He further submits that a late payment surcharge has been included in the instalment plan. It is also submitted that the petitioner is being compelled to pay in excess of Rs. 12,000/- per month as instalments for ten months, covering electricity consumption totaling Rs. 1,09,727/-, while his average monthly consumption is approximately Rs. 3,000/-.

It appears that the instalment schedule was framed pursuant to the order dated July 8, 2025, passed by the Grievance Redressal Officer. The petitioner was also granted liberty to approach the Ombudsman if he had any grievance against the order of the concerned Regional Grievance Redressal Officer.

In the aforesaid facts, the petitioner cannot refuse to

pay the instalments as per the order of the Grievance Redressal Officer, especially when he has not challenged the said order.

In view of the foregoing, I find no merit in this writ petition. However, this shall not preclude the petitioner from challenging the order of the Regional Grievance Redressal Officer dated July 8, 2025, in accordance with law.

Accordingly, WPA 19673 of 2025 stands disposed of. Urgent certified website copies of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance with the requisite formalities.
