This contempt application has been assigned by the administrative order of the Hon'ble the Chief Justice on 20th November, 2024 before the Hon'ble Division Bench presided over by one of us (Biswaroop Chowdhury, J.).

The learned Counsel for the petitioner has raised serious grievance with regard to the delayed progress in the conclusion of hearing of O.A./482/2023 (Kolkata) pending before the Central Administrative Tribunal since 2022. Attention has been drawn to this Court whereby a Coordinate Bench directed the Tribunal to take up the matter out of time and dispose of the same as early as possible. The order has been placed before us to show that the matter has been listed on 10th December, 2024 for hearing as the hearing could not be

concluded on 3rd October, 2024 when the matter was taken up last.

While we are aware of the fact that a large number of matters are pending before the Central Administrative Tribunal having regard to the order passed by the Coordinate Bench on 17th February, 2023, we reiterate that effort should be made to comply with such direction and we request the Central Administrative Tribunal to conclude the hearing on the date fixed and in any event preferably by 31st January, 2025 without granting any adjournment to either of the parties. We have also taken note of the earlier order dated 11th December, 2023 where an observation was made by another Coordinate Bench that the learned Tribunal to finally decide application as expeditiously as possible without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.

In view of the aforesaid order, we do not find any reason to effect service of notice upon the opposite parties or the members of the Tribunal who have been made parties in this proceeding.

Accordingly, the contempt application stands disposed of.

However, there shall be no order as to costs. 7.

The Registrar Administration (L&OM) is directed to communicate this order to the Registrar, Central Administrative Tribunal, Kolkata to be placed before the Bench immediately on receipt on or before 29th November, 2024.
