The allegation of the petitioners is that the police authorities have not taken any steps on the basis of the complaint lodged by the petitioners dated July 16, 2024.

The learned Advocate appearing for the respondent nos. 4 and 5 submits that the allegations made in the writ petition is totally false. The learned Advocate appearing for the State files a report of the Inspector-in-Charge, Raidighi Police Station, Sundarban Police District, dated August 20, 2024, which is taken on record.

After going through the said report, this Court finds that on the basis of the complaint lodged on July 19, 2024, a First Information Report, being Raidighi Police Station Case No. 407/2024 dated 19/07/24 under Sections 308 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered. The said report further states that the investigation is under progress.

Since the First Information Report has been registered pursuant to the complaint lodged by the petitioners, the writ petition is disposed of by directing the concerned investigating officer to complete the investigation expeditiously and to take consequential steps thereupon.

There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance of necessary formalities.
