The petitioner is in custody for about three years and prays for bail.

Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. I have considered the material on record.

One of the witnesses has seen the petitioner enter the house of the victim and leave the said house after some time on the relevant date. The wallet of the petitioner was recovered from the place of occurrence a few days after the incident. This Court is informed that the prosecution proposes to examine 20 witnesses out of whom 11 witnesses have been examined so far. The petitioner is in custody for about three years. Offence, if proved, shall attract mandatory life imprisonment.

Considering the gravity of the offence and prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The application for bail is disposed of.
