This is an old matter of 2018. It was mentioned for urgent listing. Unfortunately, the petitioner did not bother to serve the respondents when the matter was mentioned.

Mr. Sujit Sankar Koley, learned Advocate who normally appears for the WBSEDCL, is present in court. Mr. Koley is requested by the court to accept the brief on behalf of the respondents.

Office is directed to regularise the appearance of Mr. Koley in this matter.

The petitioner prays for a direction upon the respondents for early disposal of the application for compassionate appointment. Records reveal that the petitioner applied in the prescribed form soon after the demise of the father. Correspondence between the respondents and the petitioner also reveals that some documents were required by the respondents.

The petitioner has annexed papers to show that the petitioner had supplied all the documents asked for, but the case of the petitioner has been kept pending by the respondents.

Having considered the rival submissions of the respective parties, this writ petition is disposed of with a direction upon the General Manager (HR & A), West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Limited, to consider the case of the petitioner in accordance with the scheme of the company with regard to compassionate appointment.

Such consideration should be made within a period of eight weeks from date of communication of this order. The order should be communicated to the petitioner within the afore-mentioned period. This court has not gone into the correctness of the claim of the petitioner and the concerned authority shall dispose of the matter in accordance with the prevailing scheme of the company with regard to compassionate appointment.

With the above observations, this writ petition is disposed of. There shall be no order as to costs. Parties are to act on the server copy of this order.
