1. On the prayer of Ms. Piyali Sengupta, learned Advocate appearing for the respondent nos. 2 to 4 time to file report stands extended till today. The report dated September 19, 2025 under the seal and signature of the Deputy Secretary, Public Service Commission, West Bengal, filed in Court today, is taken on record. Copy has

been served upon Ms. Ipsita Ghosh, learned Advocate appears for the petitioner in Court today.

2. The principal prayer from the writ petition is quoted below : "(a) A writ of/or in the nature of Mandamus directing the directing Respondents 2 to forthwith publish the final merit list of candidates selected under Advertisement No.1/2019 for the post of Motor Vehicles Inspector (Non-Technical), and to communicate the result and status of the Petitioner's candidature;

(b) A writ in the nature of/or Mandamus commanding the Respondents to the Petitioner his individual marks obtained in Part-I (Written Examination) and Part-II (Interview) separately as well as in aggregate, along with disclosure of the cut-off marks and criteria applied in the said recruitment process;"

3. In reply to the writ petition the Public Service Commission, West Bengal has submitted the report. The relevant portion from the said report, inter alia, is quoted below :

"It is submitted that the petitioner, Arindam Singha, bearing Roll No.0129586, is a candidate under the General category who has obtained 157.33 marks in Part-I and 30 marks in Part-II, amounting to a total of 187.33, whereas the last recommended candidate under the Unreserved vacancy (UR), namely Subhasish Patra, being Roll No.0101005, has obtained 152 marks in Part-I and 46 marks in Part-II, amounting to a total of 198 marks."

4. The rest of the report further shows that, the merit list has already been published.

5. Since the petitioner has not qualified the selection process, did not come within the consideration zone and, as such, was not selected.

6. In view of the foregoing reasons and discussions, this Court is of the considered view that, this writ petition is totally devoid of any merit.

7. Accordingly this writ petition, WPA 20158 of 2025 stands dismissed, without any order as to costs.
