Samim Ullah ...for the State The petitioner lodged a complaint before the Inspector-in-Charge, English Bazar Police Station, vide letter dated March 07, 2024. The grievance of the petitioner is that the police authorities have not taken any steps pursuant to the said complaint. The Inspector-in-Charge, English Bazar Police Station, being the third respondent, is directed to take steps on the complaint made by the petitioner vide letter dated March 07, 2024, if it discloses a cognizable offence. If the said authority decides against registration of the First Information Report, the reasons therefor are to be communicated to the petitioner within a period of two weeks from the receipt of a server copy of this order. If the complaint, according to the police authority, discloses a cognizable offence, the First Information Report is to be registered without any further delay.

With the above directions and observations, the writ petition stands disposed of.

After this order is dictated, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner prays that the police authorites should be directed to render necessary assistance to the petitioner.

It will be open to the petitioner to make a representation before the appropriate authority in this regard. If such a representation is made, the competent authority shall consider the grievances raised by the petitioner and pass a reasoned order on such representation and communicate the same to the petitioner.

There shall, however, be no order as to costs. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be made available to the parties upon compliance of necessary formalities.
