The petitioner challenges the candidature of the respondent no. 9 in contesting the Panchayat General Election 2023 from a reserved category post.
An objection before the Sub-Divisional Officer is alleged to be kept pending.
It has been brought to the notice of this Court that a PIL being WPA(P) 53 of 2024 was filed challenging the candidature of the respondent no. 9. The Hon'ble Division Bench vide order dated February 22, 2024 passed necessary direction therein for consideration of the objection. The respondent authority shall act in strict compliance of the order passed by the Court. In view of the order passed by the Hon'ble Division Bench no further order is required to be passed in the instant writ petition.
In the event, the allegation of the petitioner regarding the eligibility of the private respondent to contest the Panchayat General Election from the
reserved category post is found to be correct, then necessary consequential steps shall be taken in the matter.
The writ petition stands disposed of.
