Perused the Case Diary.

It is submitted on behalf of the petitioner that the petitioner is in custody for 56 days. The allegation against him is that he was selling fake lottery tickets which were not issued by the authority and while in police custody the petitioner has disclosed the name of one Susanta from whom he purchased the said tickets.

Learned counsel for the State produces the Case Diary and opposes the prayer for bail.

The petitioner is in custody for about 56 days. Investigation has proceeded to a considerable extent. The alleged tickets have been seized. Considering the period of detention of the petitioner as well as nature of offence, this Court is inclined to hold that further detention of the petitioner is not required for the purpose of custodian interrogation.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail is allowed.

The petitioner be released on bail upon furnishing bond of Rs.10,000/- (Rupees Ten Thousand only), with two sureties of like amount each, one of whom must be local, to the satisfaction of the learned Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate, Arambagh, Hooghly subject to condition that the petitioner shall meet the Investigating Officer once a week till the submission of charge sheet and shall not intimidate witnesses or tamper with evidence in any manner whatsoever.

The application for bail, being CRM (SB) 111 of 2024, is, thus, disposed of.
