Petitioner is aggrieved by the fact that she has been duped by certain unknown miscreants and forced to part with a sum for booking hotel. To that effect, information was furnished to Dum Dum Police Station as well as Cyber Crime Police Station, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate.

Report dated 04.09.2025 submitted by the State reflects that Dum Dum P.S. Case No. 280 of 2025 dated 03.09.2025 has been registered for investigation and the case has been entrusted to a Sub-Inspector of Police. The investigation of the case is in progress.

A report dated 04.09.2025 has also been submitted by the Officer-in-Charge, Cyber Crime Police Station, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate. However, since Dum Dum Police Station has already registered a case which is within the territorial jurisdiction of Cyber Crime Police Station, Barrackpore Police

Commissionerate, the police authorities are aware regarding the same.

A case has already been registered. As such, it would be the duty of the Officer-in-Charge, Cyber Crime Police Station, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate to monitor the progress of the investigation of Dum Dum P.S. Case No. 280 of 2025 dated 03.09.2025. If there is no progress of the case within a month from date, the said case be taken up by the Officer-in-Charge, Cyber Crime Police Station, Barrackpore Police Commissionerate and depute a specialised officer for proceeding and progressing with the investigation of the case. Reports submitted by the learned advocate appearing for the State be kept with the record. Copy of the reports be handed over to the learned advocate appearing for the petitioner.

With the aforesaid observations, the writ petition being WPA 20500 of 2025 is disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.

All concerned parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
