Petitioner complains that an ad interim order of status quo passed by the Civil Court is being violated by the private respondent herein. The petitioner claims that he lodged a complaint before the Inspector-in-Charge, Chinsurah Police Station praying for implementation of the order of injunction passed by the Civil Court.

Learned advocate appearing for the State submits that an enquiry has been conducted by the police authorities and steps are being taken to maintain the peace and tranquility at the locale. Without making any comment as to whether an ad interim order of status quo, which does not specify the

status quo that was prevailing on the date when the order was passed, can be implemented through police help, since the learned advocate for the petitioner submits that a direction may be passed upon the police authorities to maintain peace and tranquility at the locale, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the Inspector-in-Charge, Chinsurah Police Station to see that no breach of peace takes place at the locale. Petitioner will be at liberty to approach the learned Civil Court in the event there has been alleged violation of the order of status quo. It will also be open to the petitioner to approach the learned Civil Court for implementation of such order in accordance with law.

With the above observations and directions, the writ petition stands disposed of.
