Mr. Sourav Sen Mr. Swapan Kumar Kar ...for the petitioners Mr. Chandi Charan De, learned AGP Mr. Anirban Sarkar ...for the State The grievance of the petitioner is directed against inaction of the respondent authorities and more particularly the Land Acquisition Collector on the ground that an application filed under Section 18 of the Land Acquisition Act, 1894 as far as back on 20th August, 2006 has not yet been disposed of. It is submitted that despite an application having been filed under Section 18 of the Act, the respondent no. 2 has taken no steps in the matter and matter is lying pending for more than a decade. The State is represented and submits that they have no objection if appropriate directions are passed upon the respondent no. 2 to take necessary steps on the subject application in accordance with law.

In view of the submissions made on behalf of the parties, WPA 20664 of 2022 stands disposed of by directing the respondent no. 2 to take necessary action in respect of the subject application being Annexure 'P-2' at page 13 of the writ petition and dispose of the same in accordance with law.

It is made clear that there is no adjudication on the merits of the case and the respondent no. 2 is to dispose of the same within a period of eight weeks from the date of communication of this order.

In view of the aforesaid, the present writ petition stands disposed of.
