Manowara Begam @ Manowara Begum v. State Of West Bengal
19.09.2025 Ct.No.34 b.das Rejected C.R.M. (M) 1524 of 2025 In Re : An application for bail under Section 483 of BNSS, 2023 filed in connection with Arambagh Police Station Case No.703 of dated 11.12.2024 under Sections 85/80/103(1)/3(5) of the BNS, 2023.
And In Re : Manowara Begam @ Manowara Begum ... Petitioner. Mr. Niladri Sekhar Ghosh Ms. Laboni Sikder Mr. Souvik Dey ... for the petitioner.
Ms. Baisali Basu Ms. Baisakhi Chatterjee ... for the State.
Heard learned counsels for the parties.
The petitioner is the mother in law of the victim and is in custody for more than 200 days. She prays for bail. Learned counsel for the State opposes the prayer. I have considered the material on record. The victim was manually strangulated to death in her matrimonial home. The petitioner being the mother in law has been implicated by the neighbour.
Considering the gravity of the offence and prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.
The application for bail is thus disposed of. Case diary be returned.
