Heard learned counsels for the parties.

The petitioner is in custody for about 14 months and prays for bail.

Learned counsels for the State and the de facto complainant oppose the prayer.

I have considered the material on record. The petitioner appears to be one of the principal assailants who shot the victim. The offending fire arm was recovered pursuant to the leading statement of the petitioner. The ballistic report of the fire arm suggests that the fire arm was in working condition. The petitioner is in custody for 14 months. Offence, if proved, shall attract mandatory life imprisonment.

Considering the gravity of the offence and prima facie involvement of the petitioner therein, prayer for bail is rejected at this stage.

The application for bail is thus disposed of. Case diary be returned.
