Since the petitioner seeks expeditious disposal of G.R. case no. 1964 of 2008 pending before the learned 6th Metropolitan Magistrate, Calcutta (presently redesignated as 6th Judicial Magistrate, Calcutta), the matter may be disposed of without service of notice upon the opposite parties. The opposite parties shall not be prejudiced by an order directing expeditious disposal of the case. It appears that the case was registered on 23rd July, 2008 and the charge was framed on 1st March, 2013. Examination of charge sheet witness no.1 is in progress.

Since the matter is pending for long, the learned trial Court is directed to dispose of the matter within eighteen months from the next date of hearing fixed before him without granting any unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties, in accordance with law.

With the aforesaid directions, CRR 3549 of 2024 is disposed of. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon compliance of all requisite formalities. (Suvra Ghosh, J.)
