Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioner is taken on record.

Learned advocate representing the petitioner submits that petitioner is being prevented by the authority of Pirakata High School (HS), Paschim Medinipur from discharging duty as sweeper in girls' hostel. Petitioner prays for issuance of mandamus thereby directing the concerned respondent authorities to permit the petitioner to discharge duty as sweeper in girls' hostel. In support of case made out, attention of this Court has been drawn to appointment letter

dated 19th July, 2014 which is at page 25 of the writ petition.

State respondents and aforesaid school authority are represented by learned advocates. 4.

On perusal of appointment letter dated 19th July, 2014, it appears that petitioner was appointed as sweeper in girls'

hostel on contractual basis and appointment was for a period of one year.

Considering the appointment letter dated 19th July, 2014, it appears that no enforceable right accrued in favour of the petitioner warranting issuance of mandamus in order to protect right of the petitioner to remain in service. 6.

In this regard reliance is placed on the judgment of the Hon'ble Supreme Court delivered in State of Karnataka Vs. Umadevi, reported in 2006 (4) SCC Page 1.

Hence, writ petition stands dismissed.

There shall be, however, no order as to costs.
