The petitioner on December 9, 2020 was appointed as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Garhbeta College, Paschim Medinipur.

The petitioner in a prescribed form has applied for transfer to any college in Kolkata on the grounds that the present college is far away from her residence as such she is unable to look after her ailing husband and minor child, she is also suffering from different kinds of deceases. The said application is pending before the Director of Public Instruction, Department of Higher Education, the respondent no.2 herein since February 23, 2024.

The respondent no.2 is directed to consider the said application in accordance with law particularly in terms of Rule 3 of the West Bengal Colleges (Transfer of Employees) Rules, 2017 as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. WPA 20416 of 2025 is disposed of with the above terms without any order as to costs.

Since no affidavit has been invited, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed to have been denied by the respondents.
