Learned advocate for the State and Electricity authority are present.

None appears for the private respondent in spite of service.

Petitioner has filed this writ petition being aggrieved by the alleged inaction on the part of the respondent electricity authority in providing new electric connection to the petitioner.

Learned advocate appearing for the respondent Electricity authority submits that the allegation of the petitioner is partially incorrect since authority has taken action on the basis of application of the petitioner for new connection as would appear from

the communication of the authority dated 02nd November, 2022 being annexure P/7 to the writ petition.

On perusal of the aforesaid document I find that the petitioner has been asked to comply certain formalities and which according to the respondent electricity authority have not been complied with till date and the learned advocate appearing for the respondent submits that electricity authority have visited thrice the premises in question and inspected for installation of the electric meter and on the third time they were resisted by the private respondent.

authority concerned shall provide electricity connection and install the meter at the premises in question within four weeks from the date of such compliance and if it faces any obstruction it shall be entitled to take the assistance of the local Police Station at the cost of the petitioner and if the Electricity authority asked for any assistance from the local police authority concerned they will be bound to render the assistance including it will have the power to break open the padlock if it is found at the premises in question.

With this observation and direction this writ petition being WPA 20581 of 2023 and CAN 1 of 2023 are disposed of.
