The petitioners seek water connection at premises no. 309, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Kolkata700104 under Borough-XVI of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation.

It appears from the documents annexed to the writ petition that a representation was filed before the Water Supply Department seeking water connection. The petitioners submit that the same has not been considered.

A report has been filed by the engineers of the Water Supply Department, Borough-XVI, Kolkata Municipal Corporation signed on 3rd February, 2023 mentioning that an inspection was conducted on 3rd February, 2023 at the subject premises upon prior notice to all the parties.

It was found that there is no filter water connection at the subject premises. There is enough space for providing Kolkata Municipal Corporation filter water connection and scope for construction or installation of underground and overhead reservoir. The Kolkata Municipal Corporation, Water Supply Department is willing to provide water connection at the above premises.

According to the provision of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation Act, 1980, an application is required to be made through the licensed plumber of the Corporation for obtaining water connection. Any party interested to obtain water connection at the subject premises will be at liberty to make proper application before the Water Supply Department through the licensed plumber.

In the event such an application is made, the same shall be considered by the concerned authority in accordance with law.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent photostat certified copy of this order be supplied to the parties, if applied for, as early as possible.
