The petitioners refer to the receipt issued by the Howrah Municipal Corporation on acceptance of application fee for new water connection in May, 2023. The petitioners allege that the water connection has not been given till date.

Learned advocate representing the Howrah Municipal Corporation submits, upon instruction that, the water connection cannot be given at the aforesaid address for obtaining the water connection as the construction in question has been made without obtaining any sanction from the Howrah Municipal Corporation. The construction in question has been

detected to be an unauthorized one and order of demolition has been passed.

Upon hearing the submission made on behalf of the parties, it appears that the prayer made by the petitioners for grant of water connection in a structure which has come up without any sanction plan cannot be allowed. An order of demolition has already been passed and the same is awaiting execution.

The writ petition, accordingly, fails and is hereby dismissed.

The instruction forwarded by the Howrah Municipal Corporation is kept on record.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
