Petitioner renews the prayer for bail. It is contended petitioner is in custody for more than five years. It is further contended in spite of direction by this Court, trial has not concluded till date.

Learned Advocate for the State opposes the prayer for bail. He submits petitioner did not co-operate with the trial court. As a result, there is delay in trial.

This, however, is disputed by the learned Advocate for the petitioner.

We have considered the materials on record. There are ample evidence connecting him with the crime. Trial has considerably progressed. Adjournments had been taken on behalf of the defence also. Delay was also caused due to the intervening pandemic.

Under such circumstances, we are not inclined to grant bail to the petitioner at this stage.

Accordingly, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is rejected.

Trial court is directed to expedite the trial and conclude the same at an early date without granting unnecessary adjournment to either of the parties.
