1. Status report filed by the State today be kept with the records. The report is not very helpful. It does not answer our query as to how many witnesses the prosecution proposed to examine.

2. We have seen the statements of witnesses recorded under Section 164 of the Code of Criminal Procedure including those of eyewitnesses. Prima facie, there are sufficient incriminating materials against the petitioner. Hence, we are not inclined to allow the prayer of the petitioner for bail, at this stage.

3. The application for bail is, thus, dismissed.

4. However, since the petitioner is in custody from May 16, 2023, i.e., for more than 1 year 7 months, we request the learned trial Court to expedite the trial to the fullest extent possible and conclude the same on an early date.

5. All parties shall act on the server copies of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.

6. Criminal Section is directed to supply certified copies of this order to the parties, if applied for, upon compliance of all necessary formalities.
