In view of the extreme urgency, the matter has been taken up for hearing in Chamber.

Let the affidavit of service filed by the petitioner be kept on record.

The petitioner seeks an electricity connection for his garment shop located at 8, Dinanath Ghosh Street, Belur, Howrah.

The learned advocate appearing for CESC submits that an inspection was conducted today, and in principle, CESC is agreeable to provide the electricity connection to the petitioner from the existing meter board, subject to the petitioner's compliance with all necessary formalities.

In light of the above, there is no necessity to keep this writ petition pending. Accordingly, the writ petition is disposed of, with a direction to CESC to effect the electricity connection today, provided the petitioner deposits the necessary fees and complies with all formalities by 4:00 p.m. today.

However, if the petitioner is unable to comply with all formalities by 4:00 p.m. today, the connection shall be provided within 14 days from the date of compliance with all formalities.

CESC shall be entitled to seek police assistance from the Officer-in-Charge of concerned Police Station to implement this order.

The police are authorized to break open the padlock of the meter board if required. The costs of such police assistance shall be borne by the petitioner. Accordingly, WPA 20704 of 2025 along with CAN 1 of 2025 stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties on compliance of usual legal formalities.
