This writ petition has been filed alleging that the 10th respondent has been running a piggery farm without obtaining a licence and in spite of the trade licence having been cancelled and strict warning having been issued the 10th respondent is still continuing to run the piggery farm in the land in question. From the documents annexed to the writ petition, we find that the trade license granted to the 10th respondent has been cancelled almost a year back. The Block Development Officer, Kolaghat Development Block has informed the Officer-in-Charge of Kolaghat Police Station to lodge an FIR against the 10th respondent and take appropriate action for closure of the polluting pig farm. Pursuant to such direction FIR has been

lodged by the police. However, it is not clear as to what further steps has to be taken by the police authorities against the 10th respondent who is allegedly running the piggery farm without any trade license or permission.

In the light of the above, we direct the 4th respondent/Superintendent of Police to conduct a surprise inspection and verify the credential of the 10th respondent and if there is no license obtained from the appropriate authorities for running the piggery farm legally the same shall be sealed and appropriate action be initiated against the 10th respondent within a period of two weeks from the date of receipt of the server copy of this order. 3.

With the aforesaid direction, the writ petition stands disposed of.
