One of the private respondents refused to accept service. Report filed on behalf of the State is also taken on record. Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. The petitioner was asked to part with some money by the local leaders belonging to the ruling political dispensation. The petitioner refused to do so. Thereafter, the private respondents started threatening and intimidating the petitioner. Threats were given that his minor children would be abducted and his house would be set on fire. He made a complaint before the police authority, but no action was taken. It is now learnt that an F.I.R. being Tarakeswar Police Station Case No. 356/23 dated 29.8.2023 has been registered on his complaint under Sections 384, 447, 504, 506 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code.

Learned counsel appearing for the State relies on the report and submits as follows. On the complaint of the petitioner a specific F.I.R. has been lodged and the same is being investigated. The police are keeping a close watch on the developments in the locality.

It is an unfortunate case where the petitioner has to approach this Court because the local political leaders are trying to extort money from him, failing which threats are given. Let the respondent police authorities keep a sharp vigil at the locale and ensure that no breach of peace takes place or any harm ensues to the petitioner and his family members. If any untoward incident occurs or is apprehended by the petitioner, she shall be at liberty to call up the officer-in-charge of the local police station and inform him about the same who then shall act in accordance with law.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties, upon completion of requisite formalities. (JAY SENGUPTA, J.)
