Petitioners have filed this writ petition being aggrieved by inaction on the part of the respondent electricity authority concerned in providing electricity connection at the premises of the petitioners in spite of compliance of all the legal formalities.

The learned advocate appearing for the respondent electricity authority submits that in the application form there is a mistake in indicating the shop room number of the petitioners and if it is corrected, the respondent authority will consider for providing electricity to the petitioners upon reinspection. When learned advocate for the respondent electricity authority was asked as to how and when this defect was communicated to the petitioners, he could not give any reply.

Considering the facts and circumstances of the case and submissions of the parties, this writ petition being WPA No. 20832 of 2023 is disposed of by directing the electricity authority concerned to communicate the defect in the application of the petitioners within seven working days from date. On receipt of such communication from the electricity authority concerned, the petitioners shall rectify such defect within seven days thereafter and the respondent electricity authority concerned will provide electricity connection to the petitioners within two months from the date of curing of such defect, subject to compliance of other formalities including the inspection of the premises in question.
