1. The instant writ petition has been filed, inter alia, complaining failure on the part of the municipality to provide fresh water connection to the petitioner's premises situated within Garulia Municipality, notwithstanding the petitioner having made appropriate application.

2. When the matter was taken up on 17th February, 2026, this Court by noting the submissions of the petitioner in the absence of the municipality while adjourning the matter, had directed the petitioner to communicate the order dated 17th February, 2026 to the municipality.

3. Pursuant to aforesaid, petitioner by communication in writing dated 20th February, 2026 had communicated aforesaid order to

municipality. Copy of such communication as placed before this Court bearing the seal of the municipality is taken on record.

4. The municipality is represented in Court today and by placing before this Court the communication dated 13th March, 2026 would submit that on the basis of the application made by the petitioner for supply of water connection dated 11th June, 2024, the municipality had intimated the petitioner that it shall carry out an inspection at the premises in question on 14th March, 2026. Let the copy of the aforesaid communication addressed to the petitioner as placed before this Court be taken on record. Pursuant to such communication, an inspection has already been conducted.

5. Having regard to the above and since the municipality has already taken steps, I am of the view that no fruitful purpose will be serve in keeping the petition pending.

6. Accordingly, the petition stands disposed of by directing the municipal authorities to act in accordance with law and take appropriate steps for providing the petitioner with fresh water connection on completion of formality, as expeditiously as possible preferably within 6 weeks from the date of communication of this order.

7. It is made clear if any other formalities are to be complied with by the petitioner for obtaining fresh water connection, the same shall be intimated by the municipality within a week from date of

communication of this order.

Noting that petitioner's application is pending for more than one and half year in respect of the essential supply, the timelines as indicated herein are peremptory.

8. With the above directions and observations, the instant writ petition stands disposed of.

9. Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance of all formalities.
