1. We have heard the learned counsel appearing for the parties.

2. The appeal is arising out of an order dated 24th July, 2023 passed by the learned Single Judge in relation to an appointment on compassionate ground. One Arati Mahato is the daughter of the deceased State employee. Her mother was working as a Lady Extension Officer under the Mass Education Department, State of West Bengal. She died on 10th August, 2005. The son of the deceased employee applied for compassionate appointment. After lapse of 8 years he was offered appointment. The son declined to accept it meaning thereby that the son did not require the financial assistance. At

this stage the daughter applied for appointment on compassionate ground.

3. Learned Single Judge dismissed the writ petitioner on the ground that that the compassionate appointment is not an alternative mode of generation of employment and it is extended to secure the family to meet the immediate financial crises for survival such family.

4. On such consideration, we do not find any reason to interfere with the order passed by the learned Single Judge.

5. In view of the aforesaid, the appeal being MAT 1659 of 2023 stands disposed of.

6. In view of the disposal of the appeal, nothing remains to be decided in the application being CAN 1 of 2023 and the same is accordingly disposed of.

7. However, there shall be no order as to costs.

8. Urgent Photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be given to the parties on usual undertaking.
