The petitioner complains that notwithstanding charge sheet No.562/22 dated 31st May, 2022 under section 420 of the IPC filed by the Sonarpur Police, the private respondents are at large.

Learned counsel for the State has produced a report issued by the Inspector-in-Charge, Sonarpur Police Station, Baruipur Police District and the same is taken on record.

It appears that the private respondents are absconding and warrant of arrest is pending against them. Several raids have been conducted by the police from May 2019 to till November 2022 at various places but in vain.

The police shall take urgent and immediate steps for proclamation and attachment. The charge sheet shall be put to committal. Prosecution shall explore possibilities of conducting the trial in absence of the accused.

The petitioner may assist the police in arresting the accused and the police may conduct raid appropriately.

With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition shall stand disposed of.

7.

There shall be no order as to costs.

8.

All parties shall act on the server copy of this order duly downloaded from the official website of this Court.
