The petitioner on April 11, 2017 was appointed as an Assistant Professor for the subject English at Mugberia Gangadhar Mahavidyalaya, District - Purba Medinipur. The petitioner in a prescribed form has applied for transfer to any college in her home district or any college nearer to her residence inter alia on the grounds of distance, that she is the sole caregiver of her minor child and that she is also suffering from different kinds of diseases. The said application is pending before the Director of Public Instruction, Government of West Bengal, the respondent no. 3 herein since August 17, 2022.

The respondent no.2 is directed to consider the said application in accordance with law particularly in terms of Rule 3 of the West Bengal Colleges (Transfer of Employees) Rules, 2017 as expeditiously as possible, preferably within a period of four weeks from the date of communication of this order. W.P.A. 21220 of 2025 is disposed of with the above terms without any order as to costs.

Since no affidavit has been invited, the allegations made in the writ petition are deemed to have been denied by the respondents.
