1. The petitioner's grievance in this writ petition is that illegal mining activities and excavation of sands from the riverbed of Damodar at Mouza-Maji, Jhupulia, Kesharguri within the Police Station-Saltora is being carried out.

2. The petitioner earlier approached this Court with more or less a similar relief in W.P.A. (P) 247 of 2024, which was disposed of by order dated July 4, 2024. The operative portion of the order reads as follows: "7. Needless to state that the authorities concerned more particularly the District Magistrate of the concerned district, namely, the 2nd respondent/District Magistrates, Bankura shall direct its officers to maintain strict vigil of the area so as to ensure that no illegal sand mining takes place within the areas pointed out by the writ petitioner."

3. In the representation given by the petitioner, adequate particulars are not available except to state that there are 500 to 600 lorries employed to transport the illegally mined sand.

4. The District Magistrate is directed to constitute a team of officers and conduct periodical surprise checks and ensure that there is no illegal sand mining or transport of such sand, which is mined illegally.

5. With the aforesaid directions, the writ petition is disposed of.

6. No costs.

7. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, be furnished to the parties expeditiously upon compliance of all legal formalities.
