The grievance of the petitioner in the present writ application is that the petitioner has made a complaint to the Bar Council of West Bengal against the private respondent, namely, Bhaskar Chattopadhayay having Enrollment No. WB 328 of 1993 being Case No. 18 of 2017. 2.

On initiation of the said case, the Bar Council of West Bengal issued a notice of hearing in the year 2020 and last hearing was conducted on April 6, 2022 and the parties have also filed their written arguments but till date no order is passed by disposing of the complaint filed by the petitioner. Accordingly, the learned counsel for the petitioner prays for a direction upon the respondents, i.e., the Bar Council of West Bengal to dispose of the complaint filed by the petitioner within a specific time period.

The petitioner has served the notice to the private respondent as well as the Bar Council of West Bengal but in spite of receipt of the notice, none appears on behalf of either of the parties.

Considered the submission made by the learned counsel for the petitioner.

Perused the materials on record.

This Court finds that on receipt of the complaint filed by the petitioner, the case was registered against the private respondent being Case No. 18 of 2017 and notices of hearing were also issued and the parties have also filed the written statement but till date the Bar Council of West Bengal did not dispose of the said complaint filed by the petitioner. 7.

This Court finds that the complaint filed by the petitioner is pending before the Bar Council of West Bengal since the year 2017.

Accordingly, WPA 21102 of 2023 is disposed of by directing the respondent no. 1 to dispose of the complaint filed by the petitioner being Case No. 18 of 2017 within a period of six weeks from the date of receipt of this order. 9.

Urgent photostat certified copies of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all the necessary formalities.
