Learned counsel appearing for the petitioners submits that the petitioners are members of Indian National Congress Party and plan to organize a rally from College Street - Bidhan Sarani - Shyambazar 5-Point Crossing and also a public meeting at Bhupendra Bose Avenue near Shyambazar 5-Point Crossing from 3.00 P.M. to 7.00 P.M. An application to that effect was served to all concerned police stations as well as Joint Commissioner of Police (HQ), Lal Bazar, Kolkata, but till date no permission has been granted by concerned authority.

Mr. Banerjee, learned Senior Standing Counsel appearing for the State submits that permission has already been granted to the petitioners on 27th August,

2024 at 7.00 P.M. through e-mail and copy of the permission letter has been produced before this Court. Heard learned counsels for the parties at length. As permission for the rally and meeting has already been granted by the State to the petitioners, the petitioners are requested to follow the terms and conditions as mentioned in the permission letter of the police and the police is also requested to keep a strict vigil on the safety and security of the protesters. With the above directions, the writ petition being WPA 21720 of 2024 is disposed of.
