The petitioners complain that the private respondents/brothers, have assaulted them and are continuing to threaten and intimidate them. As a consequence of the above, they are unable to enter the residence.

The petitioners claim to have registered a complaint with Basanti Police Station, South 24 Parganas on 21st August, 2022.

Counsel for the State submits that Basanti Police Station has never received the petitioners' complaint.

The Basanti Police Station may register a First Information Report and investigate the matter and take steps in accordance with law.

Since the petitioners are apprehensive about the assault by the private respondents, they may visit the

Basanti Police Station and Police shall escort them back into the residence. The Basanti Police Station shall also post a picket outside the petitioners' residence for a period of one week and further ensure that there is no breach of peace in the area. With the aforesaid directions, the instant writ petition shall stand disposed of.

There will be no order as to costs.
