Chatterjee, learned Advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that excepting registration of the FIR, no further steps have been taken by the police authorities.

Affidavit-of-service filed in Court today is taken on record.

Mr.

Chatterjee submits that the respondents have been duly served. However, none appears for the respondents.

Mr. Sengupta, learned Advocate, who usually appears for the State is present in Court today and is requested to appear in this matter. Let the appointment of Mr. Sengupta along with a junior of his choice be regularized by the Legal Remembrancer.

Let a copy of the writ petition be served upon Mr. Sengupta in course of this day.

Since the FIR has been registered, being Habra Police Station Case No. 32/24 dated January 13, 2024 under Sections 354/506 of the IPC, this writ petition is disposed of by directing the concerned Investigating Officer to conclude the investigation expeditiously.

In the event, the petitioner is not satisfied with the progress of the investigation, it will be open to the petitioner to approach the concerned jurisdictional court for appropriate reliefs. With the aforesaid observations and directions, the writ petition stands disposed of. There will be no order as to costs.

After this order was dictated, Mr.

Chatterjee submits that since the petitioner is a student, the police authorities should be directed to ensure the safety and security of the petitioner. In case a representation to that effect is submitted by the petitioner to the Officer-inCharge of Habra Police Station, the said respondent shall take steps in accordance with law after considering the representation made by the petitioner.
