Mr. Z. Haque ...for the State The petitioner prays for compassionate appointment. The father of the petitioner was an employee of the gram panchayat who died-in-harness in the month of November 2000. The petitioner was a minor at that point of time. The petitioner made an application on 31.07.2023 seeking appointment on compassionate ground.

The law relating to compassionate appointment is very well settled. Compassionate appointment is offered to tide over the immediate financial crisis faced by the family on the death of the breadwinner.

In the present case the employee concerned expired in the year 2000 and an application for compassionate appointment has been made after twenty three years. There is hardly any scope to show compassionate to the petitioner at such belated point of time. There is also no provision to reserve the vacancy till the minor child of the

deceased attains majority for consideration of the case for providing compassionate appointment.

In view of the above no relief can be granted in the instant case.

The writ petition fails and is hereby dismissed. Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
