1. Affidavit of service filed on behalf of the petitioners is taken on record.
2. Petitioner nos. 1, 4 and 6 submitted applications in terms of Recruitment Notification dated 30th May, 2025 being memo no. 1092/7016/CSSC/ESTT/2025. Inadvertently in the online application forms which were submitted by the aforesaid petitioners against "subject applied for" petitioner no. 1 stated Political Science (PG) instead of Physical Education (PG), petitioner no. 4 stated Geography (PG) instead of
Environmental Study (PG) and petitioner no. 6 stated Education (PG) instead of Mathematics (PG).
Petitioners by instituting this writ petition have prayed for direction which would permit them to participate in the ensuing written test scheduled on 14th September, 2025 as candidates of different subjects which are not indicated in their respective online applications.
3. Prayer made by the petitioners is opposed by Mr. Kalyan Bandopadhyay, learned senior advocate representing West Bengal Central School Service Commission (for short, "Commission"). It is submitted on behalf of the Commission that just before written examination scheduled on 14th September, 2025 if the Commission is directed to treat the petitioners as candidates of different subjects as aforesaid that would create difficulty in complying necessary formality thereby permitting the petitioners to participate in the ensuing examination. It is also contended that representations were made by the aforesaid petitioners to the concerned authority of the Commission which are much after submitting applications in online mode. Therefore, according to the Commission, at this belated stage prayer of the aforesaid petitioners may not be allowed.
4. Having considered the respective submissions made on behalf of the parties, it appears that selection
process has been initiated by the Commission after a long period of time and aforesaid petitioners being unemployed youth got the opportunity to make application online offering their candidature for participation in written test scheduled on 14th September, 2025.

On perusal of the materials available on record, it appears that due to inadvertence at the time of submitting online applications petitioner no. 1 stated that he was a candidate of Political Science (PG), petitioner no. 4 stated that he was a candidate of Geography (PG) and petitioner no. 6 stated that he was a candidate of Education (PG) though they were possessing postgraduate qualifications in Physical Education, Environmental Science and Mathematics respectively. Such facts go to show that there was bona fide mistake on the part of the aforesaid petitioners in submitting online applications while offering candidature. Albeit submission has been made by Mr. Bandopadhyay, learned senior advocate representing the Commission that arrangement can be made for the aforesaid petitioners to write examination by attending Office of the Commission at Salt Lake in Kolkata on the scheduled date i.e. 14th September, 2025 but it appears that aforesaid petitioners stay far away from Kolkata and at this stage if aforesaid petitioners are compelled to attend
the Office of the Commission for writing examination that would create hindrance so far petitioner nos. 1, 4 and 6 are concerned.

Taking note of the aforesaid aspect, concerned authority of the Commission is directed to permit the petitioner nos. 1, 4 and 6 to participate in written examination scheduled on 14th September, 2025 by treating them as candidates under the subjects Physical Education (PG), Environmental Study (PG) and Mathematics (PG); not Political Science (PG), Geography (PG) and Education (PG). Concerned authority of the Commission is also directed to issue Admit Cards to petitioner nos. 1, 4 and 6 by 12th September, 2025.
7. It is made clear that aforesaid directions are confined to petitioner nos. 1, 4 and 6. So far petitioner nos. 2, 3 and 5 are concerned it is contended on behalf of the Commission that supporting documents showing their respective educational qualification are not appended to the writ petition. Hence, similar directions are not passed in respect of petitioner nos. 2, 3 and 5.
8. However, this order shall not preclude the petitioner nos. 2, 3 and 5 to file writ petition on self-same cause of action with better particulars.
9. Writ petition stands disposed of.
10. Learned advocate for the petitioners is granted leave to communicate this order without waiting for server copy of this order to the Commission.
