On a perusal of the report filed by the Block Development Officer, Barasat-I Development Block dated 19th January, 2024, it appears that the death certificate of the deceased was not handed over to the petitioner as she was found not to be a near relative of the deceased.

From the documents annexed to the report, it appears that the near relative of the deceased applied for obtaining the death certificate.

Learned advocate appearing for the petitioner submits that she does not have any objection if the death certificate is issued to any of the near relatives of the deceased.

The Pradhan is directed to issue the death certificate of the deceased and hand over the same to

the near relative of the deceased who approaches the Gram Panchayat. The same shall be handed over within a week from the date of making a fresh application before the Gram Panchayat.

The writ petition stands disposed of.

Urgent certified photocopy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties expeditiously on compliance of usual legal formalities.
