Maiti ... for the Petitioner(s) Ms. Shaila Afrin Ms. Srilekha Chattopadhyay ... for the State-respondent(s) Learned advocate for the petitioner submits that the petitioner is in custody for more than four and half years and there has been no progress in the trial of the case as only some of the witnesses have been examined.

According to the learned advocate, the evidence which has been adduced and the prosecution's case which was tried to be established, at the inception, there is gulf of difference, as such, the petitioner may be released on bail. Learned advocate for the State submits that the prosecution would rely upon 13 witnesses in order to prove its case and, presently, P.W.13 is being examined. Having considered the stage of the case, I am not inclined to enlarge the petitioner on bail.

Hence, the prayer for bail of the petitioner is Rejected.

Let, examination of the P.W.13 along with examination of the accused u/s 313 of the Cr.P.C. be completed by 31st January, 2026, thereafter, the trial court would within a month pronounce its verdict.

Accordingly, CRM(M) 1652 of 2025 is dismissed. Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of. Report submitted be kept with the record.
