Mr. Debapriya Majumdar ... for the Petitioner(s) Mr. Suman Sengupta Ms. Amrita Panja Moulick ... for the State-Respondent(s) Pursuant to the earlier directions, the Officer-in-charge of Raninagar Police Station is virtually present before this court. His further appearance before this Court, for the day, is dispensed with.

The petitioner apprehends that he may be subjected to physical assault as he has been facing life threat from some influential persons in the area.

There are other accusations against certain individuals. To that effect, information was furnished to the Officer-incharge of Raninagar Police Station. The grievance of the petitioner is

that only General Diary Entry being No.

226 dated 04.09.2025 has been registered.

However, according to the petitioner, although, cognizable offence has been made out, but, no steps have been taken.

Having regard to the nature of the prayers advanced in the writ petition, I direct the petitioner, first, to approach the Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad with a representation seeking police protection. If such representation is made, the Superintendent of Police, Murshidabad within a fortnight would, after personal hearing, dispose of the application made by the petitioner regarding his personal security, if required at all.

So far as the accusations made in the representation dated 04.09.2025 is concerned, primarily, the contents reflect threat perception. The same is required to be substantiated, but, till date, no case has been registered by the police

authorities.

In view of the aforesaid, the petitioner is granted liberty to approach jurisdictional Magistrate under Section 175(3) of the BNSS.

The learned Magistrate would first assess as also ascertain regarding the genuinity of the allegations, thereafter, pass necessary directions as he/she deems fit and proper.

With the aforesaid observations, WPA 21651 of 2025 is disposed of.

Pending application(s), if any, is also disposed of.
