1. This Court has taken up the application, CRR 4087 of 2025, which seeks the prompt disposal of G.R. No. 948 of 2023, arising out of Mejia Police Station Case No. 59/23 dated 01.07.2023. The matter concerns offences under Sections 406/420 of the Indian Penal Code and is currently before the learned Judicial Magistrate, 4th Court, Bankura.

2. It is noted that although the case has been pending since 2023, the charge under the aforesaid Sections was framed on 25th September, 2024. Crucially, the trial has since languished at the stage of prosecution evidence, being fixed for the recording of evidence of CSW 1, yet no single witness has been examined to date. This delay, post-framing of the charge, is unacceptable and defeats the ends of speedy justice.

3. Considering the protracted nature of the proceedings, the learned Trial Judge is hereby directed to take every necessary endeavour to ensure the evidence of the prosecution witnesses is recorded without further delay.

4. The learned Magistrate shall make all efforts to conclude the trial of G.R. No. 948 of 2023 as early as possible, strictly avoiding the grant of any unnecessary or protracted adjournments.

5. In view of the specific directions issued herein, CRR 4087 of 2025 stands disposed of.

6. An urgent photostat certified copy of this order, if applied for, shall be issued to the parties upon compliance with all necessary formalities.
