Despite service no one represents the Zilla Parishad. Copy of the report filed on behalf of the State on the earlier occasion is handed over to the learned counsel representing the petitioner.

Learned counsel appearing on behalf of the petitioner submits as follows. Anti-Social elements belonging to the ruling political dispensation of the State had vitiated the atmosphere in Sri Sri Kiriteswari Mata Mandir. In the Mandir premises they have been indulging in illegal activities like gambling, dealing in narcotics substance and even prostitution. Several complaints were made to the local police station but no steps were taken. Learned counsel representing the State submits as follows. The allegations made in the writ petition are denied. Several raids were held at the said mandir premises but nothing untoward was found.

It appears that the local residents numbering 162 had given the representation before the concerned authority for removal of

encroachment and stoppage of illegal activities at the mandir premises.

It is understandable that occasional raids might not have worked.

Let the Officer - in -Charge, Nabagram Police Station post a police picket with two police personnel including an armed one at the mandir premises for the period of two months from this date to keep a track on the alleged illegal activities. Even otherwise, the police authorities shall keep sharp vigil at the locale and ensure that no breach of peace takes place.

With these observations, the writ petition is disposed of. Urgent photostat certified copy of this order may be supplied to the parties expeditiously, if applied for. (JAY SENGUPTA, J.)
