Heard learned advocate appearing for the petitioner and the respondent CESC authority. In compliance of the earlier direction of this Court dated 7th February, 2024, the respondent electricity authority has submitted a report before this Court dated 11th March, 2024 and it appears on perusal of the aforesaid report submitted by the District Engineer, Southern District, CESC Limited that the electricity authority is ready to provide a new meter supply in favour of the petitioner and to instal the same at the existing common service position, subject to payment of necessary charges and compliance.

Taking into consideration, the aforesaid report of the CESC authority dated 11th March, 2024, this writ

petition being WPA 21650 of 2023, is disposed of by directing the respondent electricity authority concerned to communicate the petitioner the formalities which are required to be complied and the cost to be paid by the petitioner for instalation of the electric meter which the CESC authority had agreed, within a period of two weeks from the date of communication of this order and if petitioner complies such formalities including the payment of necessary charge within two weeks from the date of receipt of such intimation by the CESC authority, the respondent CESC authority shall instal the new electric meter and provide electricity to the petitioner, within a period of four weeks from the date of such compliance of all the formalities. The CESC authority will be at liberty to take police assistance of the jurisdictional police station, subject to payment of cost by the petitioner, if the electricity authority faces any obstruction in implementing this order. The report submitted by the electricity authority through their counsel be kept with the record.

With this observation and direction, this writ petition being WPA 21650 of 2023 is disposed of. ( Md. Nizamuddin, J.)
