By a resolution taken in a meeting called by the Janaswasthya O Paribesh Sthayee Samity, Contai-I Panchayat Samity on 14th March, 2024, the petitioner was recommended for appointment to the post of Pump Operator for 4th Tube Well at Badalpur Village under Junbani Water Supply Scheme installed by Public Health Engineering Directorate, Government of West Bengal. The petitioner complains that despite such recommendation being forwarded to the Assistant Engineer, Contai SubDivision, Public Health Engineering Department, no step has been taken for such appointment.
It appears that pursuant to the resolution taken by the Panchayat Samity, the Assistant Engineer, Contai SubDivision, Public Health Engineering Department was requested to take necessary action in terms of the resolution. The decision is still pending.
In view of the above, this Court directs the Assistant Engineer, Contai Sub-Division, Public Health Engineering Directorate, Government of West Bengal, being the 5th respondent herein, to consider the recommendation forwarded to him by the Block Development Officer, ContaiI Development Block Panchayat Samity in terms of the resolution dated 14th March, 2024 and arrive at a conclusion/decision within four weeks from the date of communication of the order.
The decision taken by the 5th respondent shall be communicated to the petitioner within a week thereof. The writ petition is accordingly disposed of. There shall however, be no order as to costs. Since no affidavit is invited, the allegations contained in the petition are deemed not to have been admitted. Urgent certified website copy of this order, if applied for, be supplied to the parties upon compliance with all requisite formalities.
